“Tokyo Gore Police” is a Japanese splatter film from 2008 that stands out for its extremely violent scenes and creative ideas. The film is set in a dystopian future in which private companies control the police and have to arm themselves against a special crime: “Engineer”, genetically mutated beings who mutilate themselves and thereby gain superpowers.
The main character is the young policewoman Ruka, who in the course of the film dives deeper and deeper into the world of the Engineer and fights against grotesque opponents. The ideas in the film are often absurd and bizarre, such as an Engineer who fires a cannon from his anus or another who attacks his victims with a penis bone.
All in all, “Tokyo Gore Police” is a very explicit and violent film that has achieved cult status through its unique ideas and visual effects.
